2003 Events

In Burlington,

Oscar Stone, retired arborist, educator and our most venerable member, gave a Tree Identification workshop at the Ethan Allen Homestead, summer ‘03.

 

In Starksboro

Bridget Butler,  Audubon Nature Center educator,  provided an “Edge Ecology” walk at the Starksboro Family Fun day, July ‘03.

Allen Noble,  former chair of the Starksboro Town Forest Board, introduced us to municipal forestry at our Family Fun Day, July ‘03.

 

In South Burlington,

Norman Pellet, former director of the UVM Horticultural Farm and Prof. Emeritus, gave us a tour of the Hort. Farm’s trees, August ‘03.

 

Bill Guenther,  Windham County Forester,  let VTS “tag along” as co-sponsor of his semi-annual Windham County Big Tree Tour, October ‘03.

 

In Montpelier,

Charlie Cogbill,  Old Growth Forest researcher, presented “The History of Vermont’s Trees and Forests at our 3rd Annual Winter Meeting, December ‘03.
