Seeds from this tree were collected for the

American Forest’s Historic Tree Nursery, where they will

be propagated with other Vermont historic trees,

including White Pines planted by Rudyard Kipling in Dummerston,

a Sugar Maple in Bennington growing over Robert Frost’s grave, and

an Eastern White Cedar growing at Calvin Coolidge’s

Plymouth home.  www.historictrees.org.

Jeff Freeman’s contact information has changed.  His address is freemanj@sover.net.

This map was made from 2002 data, and needs to be updated to reflect the new champions.

Photographing, documenting and stewarding these trees—as well as scouting for new champs—will take the volunteer time and energy of several teams of peole around the state.  Heritage Trees also require deliberation in deciding what “counts” as a significant tree to “the public.”  VOLUNTEER.
